Really? From what I've read so far it isn't a disaster. It really hasn't appeared to me to be that significant. Maybe if we all shared our "cables" we would have a much better understanding of each other? So they shed some light on USA - Israel talks. It doesn't hurt me that anyone knows does it? It wasn't a surprise for to me to hear that the area was volatile.

This seems like Hollywood material. "Oh no, the USA got a DUI!"

I'm usually not a betting person but I'll bet the next thing we hear is that China is critical of the war games in South Korea and that the USA could care less until you step up to the North Korean nuclear threat. Who really cares that you got into Palin's email inbox. The majority of the USA wouldn't be interested in reading what she had to say anyway. Publish away!

What I'd like to know more about is what has happened to the sorry ass treacherous bastard of a soldier that betrayed his country. I am really interested in this guys court case and defense. My gut reaction is "hang'em". However, innocent until proven guilty. I'd like to see the evidence.

I think we all need to start looking for Sarah Connor and make sure she's safe.

since we've connected. I just realized that you may be missing me. Here I am.
I've been busy with life and stuff.
Work took me to Madison, Wisconsin recently where I got to see State St., Badger Stadium, The Kohl Center and the Capitol Building. You're probably thinking exactly what I was thinking which is "So what". I was bored out of my freaking mind.

Dear "Old Lady at the Madison Airport", If I had the time to argue my point I certainly would have but you were too feeble so I figured it best to just let it go however when a sign displayed says your shirts are 2 for $25 that does not mean that I need to purchase the same color shirt and same size in order to get the deal. Don't be such a moron.

What has impressed me recently is that I was in Northwest, North Carolina a few days ago and I couldn't be any more located in the most Southeastern part of the state without being in South Carolina. One has to wonder where the hell you were standing when you named this town.

In addition, located nearby is Acme, North Carolina. They even have an Acme High School and don't think I wasn't wondering if they were in there building a better trap to capture the Roadrunner.

The people you meet and interesting things you can see in a day keeps me pretty occupied. On my trip to the eastern part of the state I stopped for fuel in Chapel Hill and some knothead changed the N to an S on the sign so it read: Welcome to the University of Sorth Carolina @ Chapel Hill.

Wilmington, NC

This first picture is the USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington, NC. It was late in the day and as always Wilmington was beautiful. I love this city.

This is the Cape Fear river. It's brackish water so up close it looks like something that couldn't flush and you had to take a plunger to it. I walked through the city and unbelieveably I only came across one beggar with a sign. Can you believe it? Yeah, just one. This leads me to believe that either Wilmington doesn't have a shortage on jobs like every other city or beggars know that everyone in Wilmington is just too poor to beg from. This could swing either way.

I ate at Front Street Brewery and although it might sound unsavory I had the Cheddar Ale Soup that was delicious.

Twice I made a reference to the movie "The Shining" and no one knew what I was talking about. Are we living in a real life "Book of Eli". Come on peoples, The Shining? Have you never heard?.... Here'ssssssssssss Johnnnny!!!!...

So I'm staying in the main hotel at Pinehurst and I make the first reference to someone in their mid thirties. I can understand that maybe, must maybe they haven't seen the original but maybe that cheesy remake. They cocked their head and looked at me like "What the hell are you talking about?" and then said, "What the hell are you talking about?'. I said nevermind, a movie before your time.

So the next morning we're having breakfast as a group with a few of us over forties, ffs, it sucks to say (us over forties)...I make my second remark about The Shining and still.... no one.. wtf?? C'mon people - 1980- The Shining??

How much you irritated me until tonight.

Work takes me to Pinehurst soon and I don't even own a set of clubs. I know that's a shame. It's not like I'd be playing on Course #2 or anything but still. If you had the chance to play at Pinehurst wouldn't you?

I bet if I put some work into it I could kick some ass at golf or at least wreck a couple of clubs and trees in the process. I always thought of myself as the more Beverarge Cart Girl but as I get older the idea of having the beers served to me on the course while I golf gets ever more enticing. This will probably also be the time that I pull my pants waistband up underneath my tits and wear a pastel cardigan. There is only so much sport that can come out of a golf game, I'm sorry. Forgive me golfnuts but I just don't see it as an contact sport and find it difficult to match wits.

I recently bid on some ladies clubs in an auction and didn't win and this could seriously play tribute to my bias towards your gay homo stupid sport.

I spent the day recently in Tarboro and Rocky Mount. The are both quaint lIttle cities in the eastern part of North Carolina.

I had lunch at this place.... On the Square

It was much more than I expected in such a small town. I was impressed. I had the Skillet Seared Scallop Salad. It was good but I was ready to eat again when I got home. I was expecting a greasy spoon type place serving BBQ.

This goes to show you just never know.

Nantes, France – While the men’s U.S. National Soccer Team is still striving to reach the pinnacle of soccer success – a World Cup title – the U.S. National Table Soccer Team has just won its second consecutive title, handily defeating arch-rival France at the International Table Soccer Federation’s World Cup – of "Foosball."

Yes, you read that right: foosball, a.k.a. "table soccer." You know, that game with miniature soccer men attached to rods that spin around to hit a little ball on a kitchen table sized soccer field. As it turns out, there’s much more to it than that, as nearly 500 of the world’s most elite players from over 40 countries faced off this weekend in the ITSF’s combined World Cup and World Championship tournaments.

Not that the U.S. foosball team had it easy. World #1-ranked team Germany, as well as Austria, Denmark and the Czech Republic all had their sights on an upset, as did others from as far away as India, Japan and South Africa. Each team, having selected eight of their nation’s best players, competed in a combination of doubles and singles events. And in a true test of all around foosball skills, competition took place on five different official styles of tables: Tornado Table Soccer™, Bonzini™, Garlando, Lehmacher Tech-Ball, and Roberto-Sport.

In the World Championships portion of the tournament the USA’s Men’s teams found further victories, with Dave Gummeson (MN) and Tracy McMillin (TX) teaming up to defeat World #-ranked team Frédéric Collignon and Davy Dehoest of Belgium in Men’s Doubles. Meanwhile, USA’s 2007 World Junior champion Ryan Moore (KY), now ranked #2 in the world, upset #1-ranked Collignon for the World Championship title in Men’s Singles. On top of all that, the USA’s World Cup team in the Seniors category also took top honors, handing Germany defeat in a category they had widely been expected to win.

Victory in other categories this weekend went to: Simone Burkhardt and Sandra RANFF (GER) in Women’s Doubles, Emil Savery and Troels Trier (DEN) in Junior Doubles, Hans-Friedrich Kircher and Ulrich Stoepel (GER) in Senior Doubles, Francesco Bonanno and Fabio Cassanelli (ITA) in Disabled Doubles. Additional titles were captured by Sandra Ranff (GER) in Women’s Singles, Timo Weickenmeier (GER) in Junior Singles, and Ulrich STOEPEL (GER) in Senior Singles. In the World Cup Women’s competition France edged out the United Kingdom, and in the Juniors World Cup it was Germany over the Netherlands.

First, Let me explain that if you are not a traveler you may not have the same scope of attitude as I. For this I can not apologize. There is not more a mundane task than deplaning. This means that you in the 18th row needs to wait for all these other dickheads to get their shit together and get off the plane. My tolerance is low. I've been on a plane a lot recently.

March 10th, Durham, NC - Drove to Durham on business. I ended up on Guess St. No. Seriously Guess St. That was mighty clever of someone naming a street guess. It was a nice drive. I didn't take any pictures but it was a beautiful day in North Carolina.

March 14th, London, UK - Left NC on a Friday and landed in London on a Sat. I spent Sat, Sun and the morning in England. It was lovely weather in England while we ere there.

March 12, Flew from London to Amsterdam, Netherlands

It was raining in Amsterdam and it sort of put a damper on things. I saw the things I needed to see. I'll come back to Amsterdam some day to visit Water Loop Lein and several other spots. The land if full of bicycles. It's obviously a very liberal land from very aspect that you turn. This is the vending machine in our Holiday Inn hotel lobby>

The one on our floor had Grolsh versus Heineken. The room was also odd. You had to put your credit card hotel key in a slot in order to get any of the lights or electricity to work in the room.
This bed below just screams "you're not getting laid tonight" to me. What do you think? I wasn't impressed at my 200 Euro accommodations.

March 13th, Flew from Amsterdam via Detroit to NC.

I've never understood why airlines didn't load the plane from back to front. It seems too logical for them not to realize that the plane would load faster. Someone was putting their carryons in the overhead compartment while we were loading and it triggered the oxygen mask about two rows up. The Flight Attendant came up and asked the passenger to please not touch them or it would trigger the entire plane to set up with the oxygen mask. We would then need a new plane. WTF? This is not comforting shit going on while you're getting ready to head across the Atlantic. A mechanic came on and obviously got it all worked out. Most of the announcements were in Dutch so I had no idea what was going on.

March 21, Flew from NC to Denver, CO via Chicago. A friend and I drove down to Colorado Springs to the Garden of the Gods. It was beautiful day in Colorado. M:y overall thoughts were that Denver sort of shuts down early. I could be wrong.

Thank you Dulles for having internal smoking privileges. Some asinine airports make us smokers walk outside security which is rather time consuming and screw you if the plane has to wait on me. I'm sorry but I pay my dues by dealing with you one time travelers with car seats and backpacks.

A great money saving idea/strategy that I had was to implant a chip under my skin and do away with the rest. That way you can see, hear and understand everything I do at all times.

This same chip could be used for all sorts of stuff - employer, medical and or criminal (if you're that sort of ruh-tard).

Isn't this what we're coming to anyway? Xray screeners in airports would be unneccesary... well maybe.. I suppose the chip would have to be very small and undetectable or someone one figure out a way to steal other peoples chips.

The Yo Yo Story

So I'm having dinner with my two teenage daughters and we're wrapping things up. It was before Christmas so I asked if they wanted to head out to another store, I'd take care of the bill and I'd meet them at said store. They both leave.

It was no secret that I wanted the time to smoke a cig on that short walk so I pay the bill and walk out and light up.

I'm a short distance from the Mexican restaurant and this little short Mexican guy runs out. He is not the young waiter that waited on our table. He yells out to me but I look back and disregard him knowing he's not talking to me.

He runs and catches up to me and says.....in his best American accent, "Ms. I think you forgot this!" (and a wee bit out of breath) and shows me a yo yo.

A Yo Yo.... yeah, I said it, a fucking Yo yo.

Do I look like I came in here with a Yoyo?

After bringing this up with friends and explaining my YoYo story I'll tell you how I reacted after I tell you how I've been advised on how I should have reacted.

A- Should have responded with the first response and said, "do I look like I came in here with a fucking Yo yo?"
B- Grabbed the Yo yo and said, "You don't know how much I appreciate this. I'm the world champion at Yo Yo and this is my best one. (attempted to walk the dog or at least get it to go down AND back up)
C- I could have pointed to someone else or explained it was from the next table over. Then that person could wonder why the hell the waiter thought they looked stupid enough to carry a yo yo.

I'm not biased against Yo-Yo'ers or anything. I'm just saying I was bit concerned about the situation.

My response was simply, "That's not my Yo yo". He looked at me and said, "are you sure?". I said, "I'm very sure".

I wish I could give you a better ending but the moral of the story is..............

If someone chases you down and claims you forgot your Yo Yo---- deny it. Because if you carry a Yo Yo you just look like an idiot.

So life recently had me at Dane County Airport in Madison, Wisconsin. I always say when in Wisconsin do as the Cheeseheads would do so I ordered a Cheddar Bratwurst from the Wurst.

Behold the Cheddar Bratwurst with Sauer Kraut on a Rye roll with mustard. It actually wasn't very bad despite the fact the lady took it out of boiling water and it got the bun all soggy. I didn't finish it because someone that I knew interrupted me. I couldn't force myself to consume this monster in front of them.

Overall Wisconsin is a decent state despite the continuous smell of cow manure. I don't mean that in a bad way either.

I had my mobile phone stolen this past week. I know this because it's been missing since Thursday and the "finder" hasn't tried to notify me. How retarded is that to start making phone calls on it too? That shit just shows right up on my online account.

Apparently I called Shaniqua (according to her voicemail) twice this morning. Once at 9:29 and again at 9:30. I called a vacuum cleaner store at 11:00. I haven't put that piece of the puzzle together yet. I called Dale City, VA in between those calls. And although the person at the other end swears he doesn't know who called him, he called MY mobile number back and talked to the person for 4 minutes.

On a brighter note, that means new technology for me. I've already been to the store and checked out my next phone. So in a sense, minus this ass raping me of my mobile phone pictures and contacts - thank you, you cheap bastard for ripping me off.

And on an even brighter note, I had insurance on the phone. So not only do I get a new blackberry but I'll pay the deductible and let my daughter have the stolen phone replacement. So she thanks you too you pilchard.

So I'm catching the Carolina game the other day while they are playing the Oregon Ducks on Maui. Natural blowout that it was intended to be I'm blissfully watching Tyler work his magic and be pulled off to the bench (and rightfully so) so that the Tarheels 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maybe even 5th string players could get a little court action. While ESPN shows the Carolina bench some nimrod has his finger clear up his nose. It's not just a little wipe and move on. He is clearly digging his facial orifice right there on television.

What a magic moment this must be for him. Let's say 30-40 years down the road he wants to show his grandchildren how he played for the Carolina Tarheels and the only coverage of him from ESPN is a shot of him on the bench with his digit up his nostril. Classic.

I wonder if Tyler Hansbrough has someone pick his nose for him? I think that 5th string player on the bench should apply because he seemed really good at it.

My first issue is with bicyclist or rather cyclist as they like to be referred to now. It begins with the "share the road" roadsigns now in place and ends with me putting some "cyclist" in a ditch. If I have to be cognizant and respectful enough to "share the road" shouldn't cyclist be required to pull over and let ten cars pass and not hold up a flippin highway because the selfish bastard wants a little exercise? Buy a treadmill like everyone else and let it collect dust. Do whatever you like but get the hell out of my way.

My second issue: Unopened pistachios. It's generally not worth spending the extra $3 in gas to return a half bag of unopened pistachios. They win, I lose. I think this is a marketing idea somewhere down the line. I'm onto them just so you know. I'm thinking if you ALL mail your unopened pistachios to me with receipt of purchase I can file one Unopened Pistachio complaint. This is similar to those joint lawsuits that are filed when you all use the same baby formula or ate at a restaurant between the dates of blah blah and blah blah. You get the jest of it. It's no Hepatitis case but those twats owe me some money with all of the unopened pistachios I've encountered in my lifetime and threw away because I didn't want to break a tooth I'm onto to them.....

3. In schools, churches, and shopping centers, go to designated shelters away from outside walls, glass, and large rooms (malls, auditoriums). Get under a table or counter or in a restroom or small storeroom. DO NOT GO TO YOUR PARKED CAR

4. In motels, lie down in the lowest-level interior hallway away from glass. Dive under a bed or pull a mattress on top of you as last resort.

In order to build a house in Wicklow Ireland, you must have been born in Wicklow, Ireland. It's a neat concept. The village is right outside of Dublin and most city goers can just become a suburbanite by buying land. You can't do it here. Wicklow is considered the "The Garden of Ireland" and you can not build a home in or on the land unless you were born there. I thought this was interesting and silly to some extent.

I hate when I get home to find a product that I purchased with a coupon stuck to it that the cashier neglected to remove. Bonehead.

I think the very last seat of the plane should not be sold at regular price. You know the one that is by the shitter and backed up against the wall so you can't recline. I took some time to head towards the coast recently and not just any coast. I'd never previously been to Savannah, GA and thought it was past due time.

As we got near the coast of South Carolina we ran into the oddly named gas station, El Cheapo. I thought it was worth including in the post. What a lame ass name for a gas station.

The Most Depressing Day of the Year

Computer Decodes Dog Barks

Barking dogs might be better communicators than we thought, according to a new study.
Computer software can distinguish individual dogs by their barks, and also suggests that certain barks act as a "universal language", carrying information about the dog's mind-set that is readily understood by their fellow pooches.

Csaba Molnár and his colleagues at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary, recorded 14 Hungarian sheepdogs barking in a range of situations: when approached by a stranger, during play, during a fight, and when the dog was alone.

Then they fed the sound recordings into an artificial neural network developed by a team led by Frédéric Kaplan at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.
The artificial neural network identified key audio features of each bark and Molnár's team found that the computer software could identify the situation in which a bark was recorded.

Varied Accuracy
The accuracy of the software varied, however – while it correctly identified a dog barking at a stranger in 63% of cases, it correctly identified a bark recorded during play just 6 percent of the time.

The software also varied in its ability to identify individual dogs, depending on the context in which the bark was recorded.

When played samples of dogs barking during play, the software could correctly identify individuals 60 percent of the time, but it struggled to distinguish between different dogs barking at a stranger -- it could do this only 30 percent of the time.

"In this context, every dog barks singularly," says Molnár. "But in a play situation, there has been no strict selection for creating a uniform bark among dogs, so each has its own individual style."

"The idea sounds totally cool," says Brian Hare at Duke University in Durham, N.C. "This is animal behaviour research at its best. You see a pattern that no one else knew was there because we can't hear the difference ourselves."

"It's interesting that the domestic dog's communication may be more flexible than was formerly thought," adds Juliane Kaminski of the Max Planck Institute, Leipzig, Germany.

Learned Patterns?
She says there are other possible explanations for Molnár's results, however. "In play situations" she says, "dogs have many opportunities to learn something about the correlation between their vocalizations and the human's behaviour: 'which variation in my bark elicits what type of behaviour in the human?'"

If this is the case, it might be that it is the "play" barks that have evolved with time rather than the "fight" ones. "In fight situations, the dog barks aggressively and the human runs away, end of story," she adds, which might explain why these barks have changed little.

Either way, Hare thinks the new study shows the importance of research into dog behaviour. "People used to say dogs are really boring because they were artificially created by humans," he says. "But actually that's exactly why they're really cool."

Green Crisis
There will be a backlash in the green movement after it becomes clear that many of the companies claiming to be green are in fact nothing of the sort. Businesses that proclaim they are "carbon neutral" will find that such proclamations no longer carry much weight among far more skeptical media and consumers.

Prediction No. 2:
Airline Consolidation Begins
At least one major U.S. airline will buy another in 2008. The most likely scenario is that Delta Air Lines will go after Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, or JetBlue Airways. When that happens, others will scramble to cut their own deals. Certainly, no airline wants to be left stranded as a solo operator if Clinton or Obama ends up President & taps the brakes on industry consolidation.

Prediction No. 3:
Bloomberg's Historic Run
Michael Bloomberg will enter the Presidential race in February, after it becomes clear which nominees will get the nod from the major parties. His billions and organization will impress voters and stun rivals. But Bloomberg will come up short, as he comes in for withering attacks from both Democrats and Republicans. He and Clinton will split more than 50% of the votes, but John McCain will end up President.

Prediction No. 4:
Bye-Bye CDs
The music industry is in crisis. The key reason is that CD sales are plummeting. Now, it's going to get worse. This year, the most important retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores and Best Buy, will look to radically downsize their CD sections -- perhaps to no more than one aisle, chock-full of mainstream pop titles. Digital music will continue to grow in influence, from iTunes, Amazon, imeem, Pitchfork & more.

Prediction No. 5:
Facebook Fatigue
Social network fatigue will set in as people tire of getting yet another invitation from so-called friends to join yet another social network. And, in the wake of Facebook's fumbled social ads initiative, it will become even more apparent there's no obvious way to pitch products without turning off members. Social features will wend their way into all kinds of Web services, but the gold rush in social networks will wane.

Prediction No. 6:
Finally, Internet TV
For years, gearheads have dreamed of getting all that video from the Internet onto the big 52-inch screen in the den. But it's a pain. Look for that to change in '08. While Apple TV has been a dud, Steve Jobs & Co. will make an aggressive play this year. Perhaps Apple will even make a gorgeous TV itself, with all the necessary Net capabilities inside. And if Apple can't do it, someone else will.

Prediction No. 7:
Biggest Bribe Penalty Ever
German electronics giant Siemens will agree to pay more than $1 billion in fines to avoid prosecution by the SEC and the U.S. Justice Dept. on charges it paid hundreds of millions in bribes to win foreign contracts. The fine will shatter the previous record fine. Siemens will also agree to allow compliance monitors to set up shop in its Munich headquarters.

Prediction No. 8:
Web Crash 2.0
If a recession finally hits, Web 2.0 companies will find there are neither enough ad dollars out there for all of them to survive on, nor enough big corporate buyers to buy them all out. What's more, venture capitalists may decide that momentum looks better for clean-tech investments than for Web startups. So more will join the "DeadPool," as the Web startup blog TechCrunch calls its list of failed companies.

Prediction No. 9:
Crude Oil Will Top $100
When will the world see $100-per-barrel oil? Paul Horsnell, head of commodities research at Barclays Capital, is betting that 2008 will be the year. Horsnell bases his prediction on broad fundamentals in the industry, which he says are reflected in the behavior of the futures curve for oil prices. (Update: Crude oil futures hit $100 a barrel for the first time on Jan. 2)
